Electrical diagnosis
A custom alternator for an old ambulance. A generator out of a 1959 Ford Fairlane. An alternator type no parts store had in stock. When the original is out of production, rebuilding the unit you already have is often the only way to keep the car on the road, and the only way to keep it original.
For everyday cars it makes sense too. Parts stores sell remanufactured units, which are rebuilt alternators and starters. A rebuild here does the same job on your own part, by the person who tested it.
Rebuilding gets you the same thing you get from the parts store (remanufactured alternator) but at a lower cost and while supporting local business.
Each row is a real job, summarized from a public customer review on Google or Yelp.

D and D Auto Electric has been locally owned and operated since 1976. It is the kind of shop customers drive an hour to reach: a waiting room lined with starters and alternators, an old Sun test bench, and Doug, who will usually show you what failed and why.
Customers describe the shop as old school, organized and tidy, and the work as honest, fast and fairly priced. If a job isn't a good fit, Doug will say so and send you to someone who does it well.
His knowledge about alternators is deep and his service is excellent.
It seems Doug is the Denver area master of hard to isolate electrical problems.

Three steps, and you know the price before any work starts.

Already pulled the alternator, starter or generator? Bring it in on its own. Otherwise bring the car or truck to 10920 W 44th Ave.
We test it, show you what failed and give you a free estimate. Nothing gets rebuilt until you say yes.
Don't see your question? The fastest answer is a phone call during shop hours.
Call (303) 423-6522Yes. Rebuilding alternators, starters and generators is most of what D&D does. We test your unit first so the estimate is accurate, then rebuild the one you have. That matters most when a new part is hard to find, doesn't fit, or you want to keep the original.
Any make or model of car or truck, foreign or domestic, plus tractors. Customers have brought in everything from a 1959 Ford Fairlane generator to a 1996 Powerstroke diesel alternator and a custom alternator from an old ambulance.
No. If you've already pulled the alternator, starter or generator, bring the part by itself. If you'd rather not pull it, bring the car or truck and we'll take it from there.
Yes. Estimates are free. Call (303) 423-6522 first and describe what the car is doing, and we'll tell you whether it's our kind of job.
Yes. D&D still repairs and rebuilds the DC generators that charged cars and trucks before alternators, including units for 1950s and 1960s Fords.
